Just realized that I'm blogging more at the band blog than at this blog...Thus resolving to change that.Anyway for thoughts of the CA trip pls refer www.ajcsb.blogspot.com for detail.
Things are getting boring after just one day of being alone at home with my whole family off in China...I have absolutely no one to talk to now...but that's ok...the worst thing is that I'm bored with my games,don't feel like doing my homework,and have nowhere to go thus making me feel like I'm rotting at home.Oh well....Can't be helped.
Watched A Walk to Remember and Drumline today.The first one was soo touching,makes me feel sad.The second one was inspiring,but makes me feel sad too,coz I start to wonder if AJ band can make that standard,not the formations and all,but the togetherness,the spirit and initiative.That's what truly powers anything.Thus far all I've seen are some peaks of morale and all...but truly?Underneath all that is nothing,at least I feel nothing underneath it,deep down its just...at most a weak bond.Maybe true unity is unreachable except in the movies,but I think there can definitely be something more than just what it is now,just wish I knew how to reach it.Watching Drumline also reminded me about the true meaning of band,its music,music that is born from togetherness,at the end the conductor/director doesn't say "let's win this",he says "enjoy playing with your bandmates".There is a significant difference between the two,you don't enjoy the music you make with each other,what you win is nothing but a name.Results are important to teachers and principals and schools and whatever,but we,the band itself,must know the most important thing and not lose sight of it.
Wow...what was supposed to be a simple entry became a band philosophy thing again....sigh.
Simple quote from Drumline that has nothing to do with above:"Some people say that the band is a reflection of the conductor/director,but the band is also an influence to the conductor/director."It means that like what Miss Tan once said...Bandmusic is a two-way thing, learn to give it to the conductor and the conductor will in turn give it to you.

Ok....last nite's post IMO was not very interesting...so here's another one...plus some extra bits.
Bandfest---So happy the concert pulled off without a hitch,and that the lower woodwinds successfully got thru the first 30 plus bars of wind in the willows.YAY WE DID IT DOMINIC AND HUI FEN!!!
Big thanks to the sax and lower ww section man...you guys made my bandfest days damn fun...let's go for a section outing soon:).I'll stop here!
Trip---tomorrows the big day!be back on the 14th.I'm excited,and i wish to learn more too.This is brief coz I want to slp now.

"Quite a long time since the last post,so let me be the one to start with my thoughts on bandfest.Since every1 already knows the programme let's just get on with the thoughts shall we?Anyway,experiencing the bandfest should,I hope for most ppl,give them more confidence in playing and improve on their skills.The very fact that we can just put up a concert with only 4 days of practice and having to do this with ppl most of us hardly knows is tough.The pieces aren't that simple too.So yeah,great job ppl,you've just proven that you can do it.Secondly,this is for egoistic ppl like me:P.Hopefully,you've seen better players during the bandfest and know that you're most definitey NOT the best!But don't worry oh egoistic ppl,just keep practicing,you'll reach there soon...haha...this actually can go to the non-egoistic ppl too,you've seen good players,and they don't get there on pure talent and chance.What you've seen is the fruit that has been born out of a little talent,some luck and A LOT of practice.So don't keep thinking you're no good ppl(if you do),you just keep practicing,ask questions when in doubt and I promise you'll improve super fast(so chim!)Finally(dun wanna drag this on and on,let other ppl say),its the morale(erm dunno how to spell lar).Most of you probably know that recently the band has been a little down,which naturally affects our playing as well.IMO,the last 4 days have helped us.If not in morale then at least in your passion for band(I hope).Especially,tonight,all that cheering(good job:))So let's keep up this thing and not let it drop,we can do this during the trip,and for those not going,when we come back we'll bring that high spirit back to you(might be in the form of presents*hint*).Those going for the trip also learn as much as you can and bring it back.Apply it to your playing!Yeah going off tangent already,so I'll end here.Thanks for listening me drone on and on.I end it now with some advice or crap:Band is a team event,it must be together if it wants to go up,so lets keep our spirits up and get the gold that most of us wants(Personally I don't need the gold,I just need the music:))FINAL WORDS:ONE BAND ONE SOUND!"
